Nordic Pole Walking is a great exercise, a great sport,
and a great way to meet people and build relationships.
- Fewer Injuries: Two out of three
joggers are affected by injuries each year, most commonly
of the knees. Walking
produces far fewer injuries, the least injuries of any
aerobic exercise. Nordic Pole Walking incorporates
the benefits of more strenuous exercise with even
less ground impact than walking.
- Burn Fat: Nordic Pole Walking
lets you set a "fat burning" pace that still allows you
to carry on conversation with your companion.
- Become a Champion: Nordic Pole Walking techniques
are easy to learn and use. Newcomers to the sport
have an opportunity to participate in events and to do
well in their age class with little experience. New
runners have almost no chance of winning.
- Stop and Smell the Roses: Most
Nordic Pole Walking is non-competitive, allowing walkers
to slow down, enjoy a view, explore a trail, duck into
a shop or stop for a snack. Runners just jog on
by, intent on getting in their time.
- Wear Normal Clothes: Runners have to put on their
jogging suits, while Nordic Pole Walkers often wear street
clothing, perhaps just changing to their walking shoes.
- It's easy to grab your poles, change shoes and have
time for an invigorating Nordic Pole Walk during a lunch
break. Runners
get all sweaty.

- Burns Calories: Nordic Pole Walking for a half
hour burns off one chocolate bar. An average chocolate
bar has 350 calories.
- Burns Fat: Chocolate contains fat. Nordic
Pole Walking burns fat. The fat-burning pace is
to walk for a half hour to an hour at a moderate pace
where your breathing is noticeable but you are able to
speak in full sentences.
- Doesn't Melt: Although Nordic
Pole Walking in the heat may make it seem like you are
melting, that is just sweat. Chocolate actually
does melt at body temperature.
- Getting Happy: Both chocolate and Nordic Pole Walking
can release the brain's happy hormones - endorphins. But
after Nordic Pole Walking you will have fewer regrets.
- Hypo-allergenic: While many
people claim a food allergy to chocolate, allergies to
exercise and Nordic Pole Walking are very rare
Moral: If you must have chocolate, enjoy it in moderation
and use your Nordic Poles to walk it off!
Morning walking with Nordic Poles is a great
way to kick off the day. it can be hard to choose between
another hour of sleep or catching up on chores or email vs.
going for a walk. But consider the following:
- Catch the Morning Cool: For
summer walking, morning is the time. When afternoon temperatures are predicted
to be discouragingly uncomfortable, walking in the morning
feels good all day. You won't have to wrestle with
your conscience later in the day.
- Meet the Neighbors: You'll be
surprised how many will want to know what you're up to.
- Smell the Roses: It's a great modd-setter for the
day to see the flowers in parks, gardens and neighbor's
planings.
- Free Up Your Evening: Having
completed a total body workout with Nordic Poles early
in the day, you can spend your evening doing something
else with friends, family or on your own.
- Get the Blood to Your Brain: Get
your circulation moving so you can think faster and smarter
the rest of your day. Clear your mind and let new
ideas flow.

- Burns More Calories: 30 minutes of walking at an
easy pace burns 150-200 calories. Nordic Pole Walking
can burn as much as 450 calories in 30 minutes, whereas
30 minutes of sex generally burns only 54 calories.
- Better Aerobic Exercise: It is easy even for beginners
to sustain walking for 30 minutes to an hour and derive
good aerobic benefits from Nordic Pole Walking.
- Nordic Pole Walking Alone is socially
acceptable and enjoyed by many in public. No Surgeon
General ever lost her job by advocating walking alone.
- Group Nordic Pole Walking is socially acceptable and
is often done in public.
- Race-walking with Nordic Poles: You
are rewarded for finishing ahead of the other walkers.
- Awards: When you finish a walking
event using Nordic Poles you often get a nice medal or
t-shirt for your entry fee to commemorate finishing the
event.
- Age of Consent: Nordic Pole
Walkers of all ages can walk together. Nobody is "jailbait."
- Few Religious Restrictions: Nordic
Pole Walking with or without a spouse is considered morally
acceptable by most major religions, although the distance
allowed may be
restricted on the Sabbath.
- Your Reputation: Nobody insults
you for Nordic Pole walking too often with too many different
people.
